4 Landgate Cottage is a holiday cottage for four, in the pretty, small town of Winchelsea, East Sussex with stunning views across the marsh towards Rye.
The cottage shares the same elevated views as one of the historic stone gates that once guarded the town of Winchelsea against sea attacks.
You enter the cottage from the rear, into the hallway, here you will find shoe and coat storage. To the left is a separate WC cloakroom and a family bathroom with hand basin, bath with overhead shower and separate handheld shower, shower screen, towel rail, shaver point and WC.
The cottage opens out into a modern, fully equipped kitchen and dining area, with everything you could wish for when self-catering. The lounge is cosy and welcoming and has beautiful views over the marsh towards Rye & beyond. A lovely space for watching TV or sitting quietly with a book.
Stairs lead up to the two double bedrooms, which can be configured as twin rooms if you prefer. Both bedrooms have a washbasin and shaver point, dressing tables and wardrobes with drawers, a feel of luxury to ensure a peaceful nights sleep. The front bedroom has stunning far-reaching views, on a clear day, you may glimpse the sea.
There is a small paved terrace seating area outside the back door and a landscaped garden with mature shrubs & decked seating area, which can be enjoyed in the warmer months.
With several beaches close by, stunning 1066 trails on your doorstep, a stay at 4 Landgate Cottage should leave you re-charged and relaxed, whether you wish to explore all the area has to offer or simply chill.

This is a lovely cottage. It has everything you could want and has been done to a very high standard. It was extremely clean, warm and welcoming. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Lovely place, Winchelsea is superb, the sunrise over Rye marsh is not to be missed!

We had a wonderful stay at Landgate Cottages. The cottage was clean, modern and cosy and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Jacqui was very welcoming and accommodating, we felt very much at home. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend!

Landgate Cottage is the perfect location to explore Winchelsea and Rye. It has everything you could possibly think of: a superb well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, a pretty little shingle garden and it’s only a few minutes walk to the centre of Winchelsea. We thoroughly recommend this character cottage

Beautiful, very well equipped cottage in a wonderful location. Loved the cottage - beautifully and very thoughtfully designed and had everything we needed.
Gemma
A very comfortable and well equipped cottage in a stunning countryside location. We had a lovely time. The cottage was so well equipped. It was a shame not to have a green lawn as in the pictures. Also the main road noise took some getting used to, but a cosy and extremely comfortable stay nonetheless. You really had thought of everything and it was spotlessly clean. **Response** We had only recently had the garden professionally landscaped and wanted a sunny day to show it off with new photos, sorry the lack of lawn disappointed but we are glad you had a lovely stay.
Alison
A lovely comfortable cottage, it was so well equipped in the kitchen. It is very close to the main coast road , which is noisy, but the lovely views to the coast made up for the noise.
Natalie
Great little cottage. Seems newly refurbished. Kitchen was very well stocked with all the essentials and more. Cottage itself was immaculate. Would def return!
Bliss
We had a lovely stay, was in an amazing location and the property was very well equipped. We however did find a few flaws in the accommodation. • bedding smelt fusty • back bedroom blind could only be closed half way •ants in kitchen • tv remote batteries had run out. We did however like how they had a maintenance book which would help resolve these issues for the next guests. Over all enjoyed our experience and really loved being so close to Rye and camber sands. Thank you **Response** Thank you Bliss for reviewing the cottage. We are sorry you had a few issues during your stay, we do ask guests to get in touch with housekeeping or the emergency contact if anything is amiss and that way we can address during your stay.

Great cottage

This is our second time of staying here. Beautiful house in an amazing setting which has been meticulously designed and thought out. More comfortable than our actual home! Highly recommended.
Shirley
The accommodation has been recently renovated to a very high and tasteful standard. Unusually, the two bedrooms are almost identical which makes the who-has-what-room debate easier than usual. The kitchen is remarkably well equipped, even to the extent of having cake forks, and the bathroom has a powerful shower and electrically operated roof window. We had one minor issue which was sorted straight away by a phone call to the dedicated help number. Would not hesitate to recommend this property.
