Camber Sands
About Camber Sands
Camber Sands is a village just three miles from Rye, East Sussex and is one of the best sandy beaches in the South East. With its wide bay, shallow waters at low tide and large dune system it attracts visitors from far and wide. If you are looking for the perfect beach and amazing dunes for the children to play in, then this beach has to be top of your list. Be prepared to share the sea views and sand with the crowds on hot weekends during the holidays, as Camber Sands is extremely popular. There are several car parks available but muster yourself for the hike over the dunes, tires even the fittest amongst us. There are lifeguards from Easter until September and it is important to follow the safety guidelines posted when visiting.
Camber is one of the best places for learning to kitesurf and windsurf in the country, with a vast expanse of waist-deep water extending out for about a mile into the sea. The consistent onshore breezes also guarantee very few disappointed surfers who rock up excitedly each day whatever the season and most weekends.
If you wish to enjoy the beach before any crowds arrive, then an early morning walk will not disappoint. You will often find the usual dog walkers and equestrians exercising their horses, galloping in the shallows, a beautiful sight.
We love Camber Sands whatever the season, the changing seascape, the stunning sunrises and sunsets and the chance to breathe in the salty area. A great beach to visit when staying in one of our rental properties.
