Sports tourism
Well, 2020 is well and truly started and with it, I wonder how many have kept those new year resolutions to get fit?
I always find if I need to stick to something, it's nice to have something to look forward to and certainly necessary when taking on a sporting challenge.
So if your 2020 challenge was to get running, then I highly recommend ‘Park run’. A weekly free, timed 5K in some lovely locations, across the UK and the world now, what a great idea. You don’t even need to be able to run the full 5K, currently being an injured runner, I’ve enjoyed a few walking park runs and the support is always fantastic. There is a growing trend for ‘park run tourism’, what a great way to explore a new place and get chatting to locals, for free insider tips. We are very lucky in our pocket of East Sussex to have many a sporting event take place over the running year. So the perfect opportunity to get the whole family involved and make a weekend of it, a mini staycation in a lovely holiday cottage, a good nights sleep before an event guaranteed.
Nice Work Events have some varied running events on the calendar for 2020 & some are already selling out fast. You have the Rye Harbour series, which is three runs during the summer months, distances of 5K & 10K and then there are the Ancient Trails in September already getting a reputation for being a challenging event with stunning views and idyllic villages.
For those training for Marathons this Spring, then why not consider Hastings Half, a great event and one used by many London marathon hopefuls for a warm-up race before the big day.
Fancy a different kind of challenge, how about one of the Trispirit Events and take on three disciplines with the well established ‘Owler,’ all distances catered for and the one thing we can guarantee is a ‘marsh wind’.
Do let us know if you are taking part in a local event when staying with us, we’d love to cheer you on and support you in your journey. 1066 Country has so much to offer and you will always be given a warm welcome.
