Splashing about in the water

If you are looking for fun in the waves while you stay in one of our holiday cottages in East Sussex, you won't be disappointed. The beauty of staying on the coast is there are lots of opportunities available to you, depending on how adventurous you are feeling.

If you are not feeling ready to adventure out to sea, why not book a course at Rye Watersports A family-run coastal lake offering a range of classes, from paddle boarding, kitesurfing and sailing. Classes tailored for adults and children and friendly instructors to make sure you learn while still having fun. When the class is finished refuel with refreshments from the Hoolie Cafe, some of the best brownies around.

For those who want to experience the power of the sea, The Kite Surf Centre is where it all happens in Camber. You can sign up for one of their many kitesurfing classes, paddleboard or kite land buggy or hire equipment if you have had a go before. If you are looking to purchase a new kit, there is a fully equipped shop on site, with lots of helpful advice to get you kitted out.

If you are already a keen kitesurfer you will find the community around the centre very welcoming, so stop by and say 'hi'.

If you would love to charter a boat for a fishing trip or experience an adrenaline junkie boat trip at speed, then look no further than Full Throttle Boat Charters at Rye Harbour. Obviously tide and weather dependent but anything from a 30 minute trip out around Rye Bay or longer boat rides can be arranged.

Looking to try water skiing, wakeboarding or flyboarding, Action Watersports at Lydd has that covered on their large private lake. Twice a week in the summer months you can enjoy open watering swimming or paddleboarding with your dog so check out their timetable for up to date times and dates. If you want to get seriously wet then consider one of their inflatable events, fun for all the family and no chance of staying dry.

For canoeing or paddle boarding on the sea at Hastings or one of the local rivers, at Wittersham or Bodiam book a package with Epic Link. Launching from the beach near the pier in Hastings on a summers day is hard to beat.

Finally, if you fancy a swim, then as previously mentioned you can swim in the lake at Action Watersports twice a week in the summer. Try one of the many beaches locally and take a sea dip but remember to check tide times and ideally opt for a swim when the tide is on its way in. Or if you like your hot shower and clear water, then visit one of the public pools at Rye, Hastings or Tenterden.

Have fun, stay safe and most of all, bring a towel!
