Whitefriars is an elegant, spacious, self-catering, family home with five bedrooms in the heart of Rye East Sussex

Whitefriars can be found in the medieval citadel of Rye and is perfectly situated for exploring the picturesque town and 1066 country area.

The impressive hallway is your first impression of this much-loved family holiday home. The large farmhouse style kitchen with all the amenities you would expect when booking a holiday cottage, so you can relax and enjoy your stay. The large dining table and chairs are positioned to enjoy the views of the terrace and garden, perfect for leisurely breakfasts and chatty evening meals. Next door is the TV lounge with comfy sofas and space for family board games with views and access to the garden.

There is a downstairs bedroom with a small 4ft double for those who struggle with stairs and opposite is a modern shower room.

The stairs lead up to the four remaining bedrooms and the stunning, large second lounge. There is a smaller TV in this room, a piano and a gas fire. The large bay window looks across Rye’s rooftops and is a beautiful room for snuggling up with a good book or enjoying a sing-song.

The master bedroom overlooking the garden has a large ensuite bathroom with a corner bath, separate shower and ample space for dressing. The second double overlooks the front of the property and is opposite the family bathroom with an overhead shower, bath, basin and WC, all bathrooms have shaver points.

A spiral staircase leads up to the single bedroom and this leads through to a further twin bedroom. These bedrooms are in the attic so there are some height restrictions to take into consideration. Children favour these rooms but please warn them to take care of the spiral staircase.

There is a large enclosed garden, with mature trees and shrubs, a pond, so care with children and dogs and a large terrace for alfresco dining on summer evenings.

Private off-road parking for up to three cars maximum in front of the property and access is through a gate.

Whitefriars is the perfect holiday home for mixed family groups and friends looking for spacious accommodation to catch up over a weekend or for longer. Located only a minute from the high street you are in an excellent position to enjoy everything Rye has to offer.

It was an amazing stay in this beautiful and cosy cottage in the middle of the old centre, just what we were looking for! Thank you so much!

“Fantastic house in an amazing location.....to have such a lovely big garden and parking right in the very centre of Rye is wonderful. The property itself is a lovely, large, well-equipped house, with everything as described and is perfectly placed to explore Rye and the surrounding areas. Our host Jacqui was very helpful and prompt with responses and we would definitely rent again.”

This beautiful house far exceeded our expectations. We booked it for our daughter's 30th birthday for the family to get together properly for the first time since restrictions lifted with the new addition of a 7 week old baby. We were so glad we did! The weather was horrendous, soooo wet, but the house was spacious enough that we could all (8 of us and baby) hang out together without feeling cramped. Whilst we couldn't really use the garden it was stunningly beautiful to look at and the house's locaion, quietly set back but central to Rye, was perfect. The house was spotlessly clean and welcoming and we will definitely return.

Utterly charming, elegant and sizeable historic house was perfect to host our large family Christmas. Fantastic location in Rye citadel; walk to everything. 3 parking spaces unheard of in Rye! Incredibly well equipped in the kitchen, including a table that expands to comfortably fit 12. Three bathrooms with plenty of hot water and power showers. Two lounges provided lots of options for our multi-generational Christmas. Ample heating throughout. We were thrilled and would stay again in a heart beat.

The property is excellent. Having such a beautiful, historic space in such a peaceful setting with ample, doorstep parking right in the middle of Rye must be unique. I'm sure the outside space is also a major plus point in warmer weather. Jacqui's assistance when we asked to add the extra day at short notice was much appreciated, it really did make a big difference.

We had a wonderful two nights at Whitefriars. We were two families and there was plenty of space. The location was in central Rye and close to everything. We received clear instructions before arriving and it was easy to access the property. We’ve been coming to Rye for several years and this one of the best properties we have stayed at.

Whitefriars is a beautiful house, we had an amazing weekend and feel very lucky to have stayed there. Jacqui very kindly allowed us to check in slightly early to fit in with our babies nap times. When we arrived one of the fuses had tripped but this was solved immediately on contacting the owner, which was great. We would certainly love to go back.
