Curlew House is a modern, stylish holiday cottage for four in Rye, perfect for short breaks or week stays to explore the lovely coastal towns and country villages in 1066 country.

You enter the cottage into a small hallway with stairs leading up to the bedrooms and a door leading to the open plan living area. A fully fitted kitchen, dining area and lounge space with a sofa and armchair with plenty of cushions and throws to make this a cosy spot to relax. Just off the lounge is a small snug, perfect for those quiet moments or for settling down with a good book. French doors lead to an enclosed terrace with an outside table and chairs for alfresco dining, a morning brew or a glass of wine in the evening. The first floor has a double bedroom to the rear and has been furnished with good quality linen, bedside lamps and comfy cushions. There is a private balcony with a table and chairs and the perfect spot for an alfresco breakfast, a delightful extra. The large family bathroom, has a separate shower cubicle, bath, hand basin and WC.

The second floor has a further double bedroom which has been beautifully finished with comfort in mind. All bedrooms have full-length mirrors and there is a hairdryer provided, so one less thing to pack. For those travelling with young children, there is a travel cot & folding high chair available on request.

Although the cottage is family-friendly we do ask that guests with young children take particular care when exiting the property, as there is only a narrow path in front of the cottage and the road is busy.

Curlew House is perfectly positioned to enjoy many of the fabulous gardens that dot this area, Great Dixter, is only 20 minutes away and Sissinghurst, Parham House & Derek Jarman's are all within easy reach. If you are a keen gardener, you will be in your element.

Perfect house for the four of us over new year. Great location, close to pubs, shops and restaurants. Great communication from Jacqui and the local recommendations were appreciated.

Extremely clean and appearing recently renovated, this was really lovely home to stay in, with a very helpful and informative host. I almost didn't book having been put off by the road and review comments about advising against for children, but the bedrooms are completely isolated from the road noise (being at the back) and the living room area of the open plan down stairs is at the rear and similarly not really affected. Granted, the property is only accessible by crossing the busy road in front of it, but we were able to manage with a 7 month old in a pram and gaps in the traffic meant this never felt unsafe, and as the house was so much more reasonable than many other places we looked at we felt it well worth this compromise. Thanks for a lovely stay, we'll be sure to stay again when we next come to Rye!

We had a lovely stay in Curlew House. It was the perfect base for exploring Rye. Yes, the property is right on a busy main road, but we knew that before we booked it and the listing was accurately described. We would definitely stay there again.
