We were welcome with a very own 'Crown Cottage chocolate" and a bottle of wine ! Crown cottage sits perfectly in the centre of things & happenings. Its next door to the quaint and very interesting Rye Castle Museum. Up the road is St Mary's Church & Ypres Tower. Its 5 mins walk to Mermaid road with its pretty cobbled walk by cottages. We had awesome steak sandwich at The Union House just few steps away. Regular tea breaks at the ;Cozy tea room' which serves freshly baked scones. The cottage is very well kept, clean and spacious. The backyard terrace serves as a cozy hangout. We enjoyed our card game in the man-cave at the basement. Bathroom is spacious, sweetly decorated with 'by the sea' theme. A welcome company ;) Bedrooms are cozy with comfy beds and tidy built-in wardrobes. Kitchen fully equipped. Vases of fresh flowers grace the rooms, give the cottage its very own homely feeling. Host Jacqui and owner Nick are very attentive to guests requests and response very quickly. All too soon, it’s time to leave. We've had a perfect stay at Crown Cottage. 5 STARS
Very homely & comfortable. Wine, chocolate, biscuits, fresh flowers, milk all much appreciated extras.
Crown Cottage is a real gem and ideally situated in the centre of Rye. The area is very quaint with lots to see and do and plenty of places to eat and shop. There are also lots of great walks close by with very scenic views. The cottage has ever you need and the courtyard garden is a real bonus. We were looked after very well, including a thoughtful pack of goodies to welcome us. Thank you, we will return.
“A great place to stay! Fabulous location, lovely, relaxing living room and cheery kitchen. We also loved the courtyard in the back. Jacqui communicated quickly and reliably with us and her restaurant suggestions were excellent. We are already talking about a trip back there!”
The wine and chocolate was a lovely surprise. Place was very clean. Very comfortable beds but could have done with thinner duvets for this time of the year and maybe fans in each room too. Seagulls were a little noisy with the windows open. Thank you, we will back
Great location, lovely kitchen and bedrooms
Comfortable, homely and well equipped cottage in a perfect location a few yards from the High Street. Well-proportioned rooms and a good feeling of space for a town-centre cottage. Very welcome "Welcome Pack"! Included a bottle of local white wine and some excellent chocolate. Rye is a real find: lots of traditional pubs, cafes and eateries, with great views down over the marshes. Excellent Greek/Cypriot food at the William the Conqueror pub down by the old harbour. Also, very good Indian at the Mahdi Spice on Cinque Ports Street Negative - Everything was generally fine. Two things to be aware of are (neither a major problem!): On-street parking outside is time-limited - you need to use the public car park (just a few minutes walk, but down a fairly steep cobbled road) The upstairs bathroom is accessed via the rear bedroom
