If you are anything like us at the present moment and fortunate enough to have your garden, we expect you are spending more time in it. We don’t think our garden has ever looked so well-tended and we have certainly tackled areas that we have in the past overlooked. Like many of you, we have noticed the bird song and the nature around us, which is giving us joy and comfort right now amongst all the worry.
Now is the time we normally would be visiting our local gardens and gaining inspiration from the planting, design and gardening ethos. But sadly they are all closed due to Covid 19. We have never been more grateful for social media, as we keep up to date with the stunning bluebell displays at Hole Park, the tulip collection at Pashley Manor and enjoy the planting and guidance from Great Dixter.
For us, Great Dixter at Northiam is a favourite and thankfully, although the nursery is closed to visitors, it is still offering online services for all your planting needs.
The gardens at Great Dixter are known for the way they merge the cultivated with the natural. Plenty of ponds, grassy meadow spaces, old walls, flower borders and planting influenced for providing the perfect environment to encourage all kinds of wildlife, particularly bees and butterflies. Something we have tried to replicate in our garden but on a much smaller scale.
Did you know they run courses throughout the year? so you can learn a multitude of gardening and design technics in a beautiful setting and get a real insight into how to adapt their way of gardening. Sadly all courses are temporarily postponed but with the beauty of technology, we believe you can still participate with some online courses, visit their website for more details.
We have many guests who stay in our holiday properties, who plan to visit, are attending courses or who have volunteered while in the area to help out in the garden. Why not become a friend of Great Dixter and enjoy all the benefits that come with the membership, we know in these uncertain times, it is a fabulous way to show your support. When this is all over and the house and garden reopen you can enjoy as many visits as you like and benefit from special offers.
Whether you have a balcony, a window box or a garden, we hope you can enjoy the delights that the new season has to offer. Keep safe and start planning your wish list, for when life returns to near normal. We are currently offering very flexible cancellation policies to help you plan without the financial burden or uncertainty, get in touch for more details.
